3-Step Guide for Procrastinators to Nail Interviews
Identify Key Traits and Align with Company Values
Research the company culture and job description. Highlight your most relevant skills and experiences that align with their priorities.
Craft a Compelling Personal Narrative
Develop a straightforward, concise career story. Focus on moments that showcase your growth and achievements relevant to the role.
Anticipate Questions and Prepare Thoughtful Responses
Practice common interview questions (e.g., STAR method). Prepare to ask insightful questions about the role and company.
Bonus Tip: Turn Weaknesses into Strengths
Got a skill gap? Frame it as a growth opportunity. Highlight how you’ve sought mentors, taken courses, or worked on side projects to improve. Employers value learners who take the initiative.
For example, I was terrible at visual design early on, so I positioned myself as a go-getter to recruiters who sought mentorship for specific skills to grow my talents. They were looking for someone who didn’t need hand-holding, and I sure showed them!
